Social Networking as a means of Publicity.

How businesses use Social Networking to help their Business Grow?

Above is great example of how a company can use  Facebook to tell users about your company and allow for their feedback by "likes" or comments.

It is vital that companies expand their market by getting their name out to new people. Companies focus mostly on advertising in order to gain these new customers. But companies are now creating profiles on sites like Facebook and Twitter. This is utilizing Social Networking. It is free advertising and gives them a chance to find new customers that already like their company. With a user liking or following a company it makes customer acquisition much easier.  As Kyle explained in a recent blog post it also increases customer supplier intimacy. Companies now know what people like their company and what they think about their products, whether the customer had a positive or negative experience. Another great way social networking helps companies get their name out there is by showing users comments on their Facebook page, a great way to show people that plenty of their customer had great experiences. There is no better to advertise your company and get your name out to new people than free social Networking.

Do any of you follow or like companies on Facebook and Twitter, if so why?

  1. I do follow and like many pages on Facebook and Twitter. For example, I liked many car company pages like Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge and so on because I like to know about cars and see comments that users post about different cars. You can get many information about performance, safety, price, and a lot of information about different pages in these pages.

I do also follow computer companies to know their latest news and updates.

It it really useful and helpful to follow or like some pages on Facebook or Twitter to get answers for many questions from people who had experience with the product.

  2. Personally, I don't use Facebook that much, but I am aware of the like feature. To me, it is a way for the social media to help interact with other people on what type of things you like. I was not aware that it could help business by using the "like" feature. I don't really follow any companies mainly because I'm not interested in them and I don't want my Facbook profile to be mainly business related; rather I want it to be interacting with my friends.

  3. I do like companies that I would like to work for or that I just enjoy. Nike and ESPN is one of them. I follow them on twitter I believe because it keeps me connected to their daily activity and possible employment opportunities. I also follow other companies on LinkedIn because that is a more professional website that is for future job opportunites and community. I don't usually use Facebook to connect companies because that is more for my personal use.

  4. I only follow local businesses owned by friends and family on Facebook. It lets me help them out and I get to keep tabs on whats going on with them...like my friend owns a bakery, gotta keep up on cupcake specials!!

  5. Personally, I refuse to "like" a company's Facebook page. I don't use Facebook much and I don't have a Twitter. I think what frustrates me the most is that companies are beginning to use Facebook as their primary website. Some even require you to "like" them in order to qualify for specific sales promotions and sweepstakes.

If I decided to "like" a page, it'll show all my friends. I'm really not interested in marketing products, especially if I'm not getting paid a commission to do so. I have many interests and if I "like" a lot of businesses shown in Facebook, my page would be extremely cluttered.

  6. I only like companies that I visit very often. When you like these pages you get automatic updates on what's going on in the company. Often times they will post sales flyers and even discount ads that can be very handy for a college student. I no longer have to be flooded by mail and can easily keep in touch with a company. Personally, it's a win-win situation!- Justin Blackwell
